A distraught wife is seeking advice to help fix her rocky marriage after her husband suddenly became obsessed with the idea of opening a ‘restaurant for magicians.’

The woman, 32, shared her plight on Reddit this week, and the bizarre nature of her problem has attracted even more attention on Twitter.

She explained that her 36-year-old partner of eight years and the father of her children has recently grown infatuated with the idea of opening a very specific and gimmicky theme restaurant, and his ‘dream’ is being fueled by a new magician friend — but both the restaurant idea and the new friendship are proving quite troubling for their marriage.

The woman has since deleted her post, but a screenscot was shared on the Twitter account @redditships, where it’s enticed thousands of people.

She explained that she and her husband have been together for eight years and have a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.

‘Our relationship has been a little rocky, partly due to his highly demanding job in the restaurant industry, but we love each other deeply, and always will,’ she said.

For the past three years he has made enough to support the family as head chef at a successful restaurant, and she has quit her job to stay home and raise the kids.

But now, their financial security is at risk, as her husband has grown obsessed with a strange potential business venture.

‘For the past four or so months, he has been floating the idea of starting a “restaurant for magicians,” with increasing seriousness and dedication’ she wrote.

‘It is not obvious what this entails, so I ought to explain. He envisions a restaurant which, unbeknownst to the general public, is littered with magical props: levitating tables, bending cutlery, and torn-and-restored menus, to name a few.

Wow... Four months ago he met a new friend name Chris, a magician who convinced him he should open a restaurant with magical props like levitating tables and bending cutlery

‘The meals served to customers can be requested to have particular playing cars secreted inside, to allow for spectacular reveals, and if you ask a waiter to think of a card, he will always say the 7 of Hearts,’ she wrote.

But there’s more. According to the woman, it won’t be advertised as a restaurant for magicians — only some customers would know.

‘The idea here, it seems, is to allow for an environment where men on dates (who are in on the scheme) are able to impress their companions with seemingly spontaneous magic tricks requiring little skill, or where amateur magicians can go to perform relaxed impromptu shows,’ she said.

She didn’t explain whether her husband had a way to make sure that only some people are aware that it’s a magic restaurant.

Unsurprisingly, she isn’t too thrilled with the idea of him making such a risky business move. What’s more, she’s concerned about the person who seems to have given him the idea in the first place.

‘I’m going to reserve my commentary on the merit of this idea until later (I imagine you can guess), but I should explain that my husband has never shown a remote interest in magic until around four months ago, when he met his friend, who in this post will be called Chris.

‘Chris is something of a magic enthusiast, and since meeting him my husband has become encapsulated by this idea,’ she went on.

‘Over the past two weeks, Chris has convinced my husband that he ought to quit his job and use all of our savings to start this restaurant, which would burden our family with an enormous amount of financial uncertainty.

‘We had a huge fight about this two nights ago, during which I said some things that I have come to regret, insulting his restaurant idea, his cooking, and his new friend Chris.

‘During this fight, my husband argued that he ought to be allowed to follow his dreams, and that his idea is good because “Chris came up with it and Chris is a magician and magicians are smart.”

Bubble: Nearly everyone — except Chris and the woman's husband — seem to be in agreement that this is a terrible idea

‘This honestly does not seem like the man I fell in love with, who was creative but also pragmatic and level-headed. His fixation on Chris seems to have massively clouded his judgement, and I don’t believe it is possible to rely on this “restaurant for magicians” idea to feed out family of four.’

She concluded by asking for advice on how to convince her husband that this is a bad idea without hurting their relationship.

On Twitter, where the story has been liked over 17,000 times, people are cracking jokes about the bizarre post.

Even Chrissy Teigen chimed in, writing: ‘I’m pretty sure “chris” is gonna know this is about him.’

‘This is, by far, the funniest way to destroy a family,’ wrote another Twitter user.

‘Restaurant for magicians is sawing our family in half,’ joked yet another.

Some suggested that the woman’s husband might be having an affair — even if only an emotional one — with Chris.

‘I’m pretty sure her husband is in love with Chris,’ wrote one.

Others lost it at the idea that her husband and Chris both thing women would be impressed by restaurant magic tricks on dates, with a few questioned how those women would be kept in the dark in the first place.

‘As soon as there was publicity (and how else would anyone know about it?) the dates would all know. Trying to imagine Yelp page: MEN ONLY! WOMEN YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO READ THESE REVIEWS. Couples could only ever go once!’ one wrote.

Over on Reddit, people gave more thoughtful advice. Some suggested her husband and Chris might be doing drugs, while others said it sounded like a manic episode in someone with bipolar disorder.

‘Huge idea, out of left field, massive financial commitment, utter lack of planning, and a fixation. OP, has your husband ever seen a therapist or psychiatrist? Maybe ask him to visit couples counseling with you “to mediate” your discussion of his idea,’ wrote one.

‘Are you absolutely certain Chris and your husband aren’t taking hard drugs together? That amatuer magician restaurant sounds like something people whacked out on stimulants would think up,’ asked another.

Meghan Markle made quite the statement as she arrived at close friend Misha Nonoo’s wedding, breaking away from tradition by wearing a black gown that cost a staggering $13,500.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, was seen wearing a sheer puff-sleeve embroidered tulle gown by Valentino as she arrived at the Villa Aurelia alongside Prince Harry, 35, for their friend’s wedding this evening.

To complement the gown, Meghan wore her dark hair pinned up in a low chiffon bun with loose tendrils curling around her chin, revealing glittering gold earrings. However, although her beauty look was certainly stunning, it was the choice of dress that stole the show – and not for entirely positive reasons.

Stylist Lucas Armitage told FEMAIL that Meghan’s choice to wear black was ‘shocking’, explaining:  ‘Wedding guests usually shun black in favor of a more complimentary color to pair with white…

‘Meghan isn’t one for playing by etiquette as we well know but even for her this is fairly shocking.’

It may well be that Meghan was taking style cues from the opposite side of the pond, where it is seen as being far more acceptable to wear black to a wedding ceremony, particularly if the event takes place in the evening, as Misha and Mikey’s nuptials are.

In fact, model Karlie Kloss, who is based in New York and is married to Joshua Kushner, one of groom Mikey Hess’s best friends, also opted for a black gown for the event, wowing in a chic sleeveless number as she arrived at the event.

Roman Abramovich’s ex Dasha Zhukova – who is now engaged to billionaire shipping heir Stavros Niarchos III – was also pictured arriving at the ceremony in a black dress.

However, coupled with the extravagant price of Meghan’s gown, it is easy to see why the outfit choice has been branded so ‘shocking’ by British experts – with black seen as being much more taboo when it comes to wedding guest dresses.

Stylist Lucas noted that the Duchess looked particularly ‘on trend’ in the ensemble, and he added that she appeared to be channeling a particularly popular trend from couture catwalks, which many people have yet to implement in their wardrobes.

He explained: ‘Black sheer garments have been seen all over catwalk for the season ahead so Meghan is riding the crest of the trend wave early.

‘The slightly OTT jewelry is also tapping into the eclectic accessory trend we are seeing coming through.

‘Proving she isn’t a slave to fashion Meghan perfectly distills the catwalk into her own brand of on trend chic.’

Interestingly, the price of the gown actually differs depending on where it was purchased; in the US, the dress costs a whopping $13,500, while the same website – fashion e-tailer Modesens – offers it to British customers for £8,900, likely as a result of increased import duties for customers who are further afield.

The glitterati turned out en masse to attend Misha Nonoo and Mikey Hess’ sunset wedding at the historical Villa Aurelia in Rome on Friday night.

Seemingly unafraid of upstaging the bride, the female guests, in particular, gave each other major competition, one dress more glamorous and formal than the other.

Meghan Markle might just take the cake, however, choosing a black floor-length puff-sleeve gown dripping in crystal-encrusted tulle. Seemingly understated, this frock is anything but. It’s by Valentino and was once available for sale for a whopping $13,500. Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out so click right to shop the current collection.

The dress, which is made from embellished tulle with sequin embellishments, would certainly not have been out of place on a Hollywood carpet – which, given the A-list guest list at the wedding – is not a world away from the arrivals area at the event.

Meghan’s choice of gown also had a rather risque element to it courtesy of the completely sheer overlay, which is coupled with a built-in spaghetti strap slip to protect the wearer’s modesty.

To complete her controversial look for the ceremony, Meghan added a small red box clutch, and wore a pair of gold feather-shaped earrings, which were on full display thanks to her chic updo.

Interestingly, stylist Susie Hasler, of Styled By Susie, suggested that Meghan may have worn the black dress in order to ‘redirect the spotlight’ from herself and ensure that all eyes remained on the bride and groom.

‘Wearing black is the perfect way for Meghan to redirect the spotlight away from her, so she doesn’t get accused of stealing the bride’s thunder.

Black is a clever color to use so that she can merge into the background,’ she told FEMAIL, adding: ‘A lot of my clients use it so they can hide away.

‘If the Duchess had turned up in a bright red dress, for example, she would have been accused of attention-grabbing. Black is a good choice for being unassuming.’

Susie also noted that black has become much more acceptable as a color choice for weddings, explaining that, provided guests don’t opt for white, they can ‘wear anything’ they like.

‘Meghan’s choice ticks a number of fashion boxes, including sitting well with her classic, timeless style,’ she concluded.

The notion that Meghan would want to ensure all focus was on the bride for the evening is certainly in keeping with the ladies’ close friendship. Misha and the Duchess of Sussex are known to have been friends for years, and it is believed that the designer was the one who set Harry and Meghan up on their first date.

Whatever the reason for her choice, it’s likely that the dress’s sky-high price tag will not sit well with critics of the Duchess of Sussex’s spending habits.

Earlier this year, she came under heavy criticism over a New York-based baby shower that was held in her honor, with the total cost of the multi-day trip, including the private jet travel to and from the Big Apple, coming in at an estimated $500,000.

Since then, Meghan and Prince Harry, who are both outspoken environmentalists, have come under fire for their use of private jets as a preferred mode of transport, although they are understood to have flown on a commercial flight in order to get to Rome for the wedding.

Meghan and Misha have been friends for years, with the clothing designer rumored to have been the one to introduce the royal couple

It is not the first time that Meghan’s wardrobe costs have raised eyebrows either.

The outfit is actually reminiscent of several worn by the Duchess of Sussex, and may be a nod to her engagement photoshoot with Prince Harry, in which she wowed in a one-of-a-kind sheer couture dress worth a whopping £56,000 ($75,000).

And more recently she donned a stunning £3,454 ($4,300) mid-length black gown by designer Jason Wu for the European premiere of the Lion King, which featured a sheer panel across the top of the bodice and sleeves.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the Italian capital on Thursday to attend the nuptials of designer friend, who is rumored to have set-up the royals’ first blind date in July 2016.

Meanwhile, blushing bride Misha, who designed her own wedding dress, arrived at the venue shortly before Prince Harry and Meghan, riding in a golf buggy through the gates of the villa alongside close friend Princess Eugenie.

Around 200 guests wearing black tie or gowns will attend the grand property in the west of Roman property close to the Vatican, which has a giant terrace, ball room and dining room served with Michelin-star quality food from its kitchen.

The Villa Aurelia, one of the most prestigious wedding venues in all of Italy, is available for rent for around £20,000 ($24,700) per day not including food, wine or flowers.

Earlier this year, the couple announced that Lauren, 20, is pregnant once again following a miscarriage last year.

While the pair frequently refer to the little girl they are expecting as ‘baby #2,’ it will be the first they bring home and they need quite a lot of stuff — which they’re hoping fans will buy for them from a $3,250 Amazon baby registry they shared on Instagram.

Josiah, 23, and Lauren have a shared Instagram account, and this week they updated their bio to include a link to their Amazon registry.

The registry includes a diaper fund and an option to purchase gift cards, as well as 111 different items they want — which total over $3,250 in all.

‘Thank you for visiting our baby registry! We are so thankful and blessed for our sweet baby girl that’s on the way. As far as nursery, we are going with more of a gender neutral theme (black, white, wood),’ the couple wrote.

So far, 33 of the 111 items have been purchased, though it’s unknown weather they were bought by actual friends and family of the couple or fans and viewers of Counting On.

There are a few high-ticket items, included a $223.19 Graco FastAction Fold Sport Travel Stroller, a $249 Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor, and a $257.55 Baxton Studio Yashiya Mid Century Retro Modern Fabric Upholstered Rocking Chair.

For those items, shoppers are given the opportunity to purchase them outright (as someone did with the chair), or to contribute some money toward its purchase.

The other more expensive items on the registry include two baby carriers, for $59.99 and $64.80, a $308.15 baby dresser, a $59.99 Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine, and an $82.99 Playtex diaper genie.

Most of the other items are inexpensive when bought individually.

Their registry includes onesies, socks, dresses, hair bows, and shoes, quite a few different blankets and swaddles, an infant bath, shampoo, and a special shampoo rinse container.

They’ve requested lots of diapers, pacifiers, bottles, bibs, pacifier clips, books, detergent, baby nail files, a baby thermometer, baby hangers, and toothbrushes.

Lauren has also registered for Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream for Breastfeeding, an interesting choice to publicly request given how exceedingly private the family is about body parts.

It’s not known how many fans have actually bought them gifts, but the critics have come out to slam the couple for soliciting them.

‘My favorite part of the registry is when she wrote “(legit) Lauren and Josiah Duggar.” Which means she really wants her “true” fans to buy for them. Gross,’ wrote one commenter on the DuggarSnark forum on Reddit.

‘I wonder if because she’s so young she doesn’t realize how tacky this looks?’ asked another, while a third complained, ‘How f***ing greedy can she be?’

‘She’s even more of a pig than the others or just more blatant,’ said another.

‘Damn, son. They have a diaper fund AND 25 different brand jumbo packs of diapers on there?? Homegirl is greedy.’

Others called them trashy, ridiculous, thirsty, ‘full time grifters,’ and disgusting.

‘Legit….this is so tasteless (but normal for the Duggars so I’m not at all shocked). Make a registry if you want but don’t put it on your Instagram when you’re a public figure,’ wrote one more.

It’s also worth noting that everything on the registry is brand new — when the Duggar motto has always been ‘buy used, save the difference.’

Many an episode of 19 Kids and Counting followed the Duggars as they went thrift shopping, and on Instagram they frequently show off their thrift store buys and trips.

But Lauren and Josiah — who indicated the due date as November 17 — appear to be going all-new for their first child, with at least a little help from fans.

‘Now it’s have people buy you stuff and save the difference,’ wrote one critic.

‘Even cheaper to let God provide for you for free by ripping off your “supporters,”‘ commented another.

Of course, it would be difficult for them to get their hands on hand-me-downs in their family: While Lauren is the oldest of her siblings, Josiah’s older siblings are all still frequently reproducing, and need to keep the hand-me-downs for themselves.

The couple may be banking on fans being extra generous after their frequent discussion of their heartbreak following Lauren’s miscarriage last year.

The couple married on June 30, 2018 and learned they were expecting a few months later — but Lauren almost immediately miscarriage during her first trimester.

In a video statement to Us Weekly, the couple stood together outside arm-in-arm and reflected on their sad news.

‘A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,’ Lauren said.

‘It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married,’ Josiah piped in. ‘And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.’

‘Nobody really talks about it,’ Lauren said. ‘We just wanted to let y’all know that you’re not alone.’

Then, in May, they shared their happy baby news on Instagram, and also paid tribute to the child they lost, revealing that they had named it Asa.

‘We are so excited to announce that baby #2 is on the the way!!!!’ they said in the caption of their Instagram post. ‘It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift!’

‘So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good!’

They added the hashtags #MiraclesDoHappen, #babynumber2, #rainbowbaby, and #DaddyandMamaof2blessings.

The couple posed for pictures for the big reveal: In one, Lauren holds up ultrasound photos. In another, they pose near a balloon symbolizing the baby the lost, and in a third, they hold up a sign that says: ‘Rainbow after the storm. Baby #2.’

The term ‘rainbow baby’ is used to refer to babies conceived after the loss of a pregnancy, either through miscarriage or stillbirth.

In June, they revealed they were having a girl.

‘If she only knew how loved she is already and how many people are already praying for her! She truly is a gift… a miracle from God,’ they said.

The couple frequently discusses their ‘two’ children, with Lauren paying tribute to Josiah on Father’s Day by writing: ‘Happy 1st Father’s Day honey! I’m So proud our children have you as their daddy!’

Josiah also wished Lauren a happy Mother’s Day earlier this year, just before they announced that they were expecting again — and referring only to the baby they lost in the post.

‘I wish our sweet baby could’ve seen just how wonderful a mother you are,’ he wrote at the time.

‘Not all mothers arms get to hold their little one, or get to hear their baby’s laughs and cries. You may have missed out on these things since our baby was called home to be with Jesus, but you ARE a mother.’

It’s not the first time members of the family have come under fire for asking fans for gifts or money.

In fact, several of Josiah’s siblings have published registries and solicited baby gifts.

In 2015, Jessa, 26, and her husband Ben Seewald, 24, asked fans to send gift cards to Target and Walmart when they were expecting baby Spurgeon.

In an interview published on the Duggar Family blog, which has since been deleted due to backlash, the person who runs the site wrote: ‘For readers who have asked about sending gift cards to the Seewalds, Jessa told us that her favorite stores are Target and Walmart.’

Then, in 2017, Joy Anna, 21, shared a link to her brother Joe’s wedding registry on Instagram ahead of his wedding to Kendra.

Jill and Derick Dillard also asked fans to donate to fund their missionary trips.

And according to InTouch, after 19 Kids and Counting was cancelled by TLC in light of oldest son Josh’s molestation and adultery scandals, the Duggars asked for donations from fans on YouTube.

Adding a ‘support’ bottom, they wrote, ‘Every contribution is helpful, big or small.’

A little boy took a menstrual cup to school to show off during show and tell after spending several days playing with it while his mother was out of town.

His embarrassed dad shared the story on Reddit this week, explaining that he had no idea what the little plastic cup his son was playing with actually was.

It wasn’t until the little boy’s teacher asked to speak to him after school that he learned his son’s favorite new toy was actually used for collecting menstrual blood — after his poor teacher had to explain in detail how it worked.

The anonymous dad broke down what happened in the ‘Today I F***ed Up’ forum on Reddit.

He wrote that his wife is spending a couple of weeks working out of town, so he’s home alone with their son Ben.

At one point over the weekend, he noticed Ben was playing with ‘this little silicone cup that kinda looked like a tulip.’

The dad had obviously never seen a menstrual cup before, as they’re less commonly used than tampons and pads. He assumed it was a toy.

It came with us to the park, grocery shopping, and even out to dinner one night. I loved that it had its own little satchel and assumed it just went to a play set

‘I asked him what it went to and what it did and he proceeded to show me it’s versatility,’ he wrote. ‘Over the next few days it helped the Paw Patrol save the town, it was a treasure chest holding tiny pebbles guarded by pirates, a force field protecting a space ship.

‘It came with us to the park, grocery shopping, and even out to dinner one night. I loved that it had its own little satchel and assumed it just went to a play set,’ he explained.

Then, on Wednesday morning, Ben had to bring something in for show and tell.

‘So my son grabs his little silicone cup and off to school he goes,’ the dad wrote.

But when he came back to pick him up after school, the teacher asked to have a word — a conversation which he recounted in his post.

‘Ben’s show and tell was…interesting,’ the teacher said.

‘Yea! It’s cool right? We’ve been playing with that thing for days,’ he replied.

‘Uh, Mr. Scott, do you know what that is? …That is a, uh, menstrual cup,’ she told him.

The dad said this was confusing to him, and the teacher seemed to notice he was having a hard time making the connection.

‘It’s um, used to collect menstrual blood…’ she went on as he continued to look confused. ‘Uh, goes inside, and uh… collects blood.’

‘It just…stays in there?’ he asked, and she nodded. ‘Are you sure? I don’t think that would, uh, fit….too, uh…comfortably…there.’

Oh it folds in half then springs open inside,’ she told him, leaving them both uncomfortable.

‘Alright then,’ he answered. ‘So where do I get a replacement because my wife will probably not be too pleased when she returns home and will not want to continue using this one.’

The dad said that his wife ‘laughed hysterically’ when he told her, and his son is still using the object as a toy.

Later, the confused dad clarified that he is aware of other menstruation products, but knows tampons are much smaller than cups, so he was confused about the fit.

‘I’d like to try to upload a picture of the cup in the back of a tractor with a chicken riding in it but am waiting on my wife’s approval,’ he added.

Other Redditors found the story quite funny, and some shared their own similar stories.

‘This is awesome! When we were little, my brother and found my dad’s condoms and we spent an afternoon on the front lawn playing with them. “Worst water balloons ever. And why are they individually wrapped?”‘ one wrote.

‘My son found mine (before I used them thank god) and thought they were toys too,’ wrote one woman. ‘I had just opened them so I left them in my room bc I was reading the directions and stuff. He proceeded to put them on his face bc they looked like “funny cone eyes” … I still have the pictures.’

‘Reminded me of a boy in my son’s first grade class,’ began another. ‘The little entrepreneur was selling telescopes for a nickel each, and sold out. Sadly, they were his mother’s used tampon applicators.’

In the video, Kendall is wearing a short-sleeve black top with ‘Daddy’ embroidered in white as he shows Jasmine the book he had written for her, page by page.

The book recalls significant moments from their relationship, and between each memory, he reminds Jasmine to ‘breath’ just ‘like we’ve been practicing.’

‘Do you remember when we first met? Almost 10 years ago. Before the bills. Before we started our careers. We were just kids in college who took a chance on each other,’ the book reads.

Heartwarming: The couple previously suffered a pregnancy loss, and he wrote that he would 'do it all over again to know the indescribable happiness I know today'

‘Over the years, I’ve been your biggest fan. I’ve laughed at the same jokes 10,000 times,’ he admits. ‘When people ask me how we made it this far, I tell them… A lot of prayer. A lot of patience. A few rough times. She gets me.’

The pages go on to recount the advice they received on their wedding day: ‘We are going to be tested but… there’s no test we can’t face together.’

Kendall explains they have been married two years and suffered a pregnancy loss, but he says he would ‘do it all over again to know the indescribable happiness I know today.’

‘You are the most breathtaking, fearless, wonderfully made woman I know. You are my best friend, soulmate, and in just a few pushes you’ll be the most amazing mother our daughter could ever ask for. I love you!’ reads the last pages of the book.

‘Well this is just the sweetest thing ever and I’m still crying. You definitely got the last good man maam,’ one person wrote.

‘This man is a keeper! Congratulations on your blessing from God!’ someone else commented.

Kendall told Fox 5 Atlanta that he came up with the idea for the book after his wife confided in him that she was anxious about going into labor.

The new mom previously had a miscarriage, and he wanted to do something for her that would help take her mind off of what was happening in the delivery room.

‘I felt really blessed that he would pull out such a book like that,’ she said. ‘It took my mind off of everything, and I was just really thankful to have him do it.’

Jasmine explained that they had a pregnancy loss before they welcomed their rainbow baby Sofia, and they wanted to share their story so others in similar situations would know that they aren’t alone.

Susanna Reid stopped drinking almost exactly a year ago — and immediately discovered that her new sober stance didn’t appeal to everyone.

‘Someone — he’ll be anonymous — and I were setting up arrangements for a date. I thought it might be good manners to mention the fact I don’t drink, because most people do like to drink on a date. And, just like that, he stopped making arrangements,’ she says, matter-of-factly. ‘It just ceased to be. A lot of people just think you’ll be no fun on a night out.’

‘I don’t care,’ she adds. ‘I’m just grateful I don’t have to worry about waking up with a sore head.’

Why did Susanna give up the booze? Well, one reason is that she¿d had enough of what she calls the ¿hangxiety¿ that invariably followed a boozing session (pictured)

Why did Susanna give up the booze? Well, one reason is that she’d had enough of what she calls the ‘hangxiety’ that invariably followed a boozing session (pictured)

But why did Susanna, 48, the polished presenter who lights up our television screens on Good Morning Britain (GMB) alongside Piers Morgan, give up booze in the first place?

Well, one reason is that she’d had enough of what she calls the ‘hangxiety’ that invariably followed a boozing session. ‘It was a sort of fizzing feeling, when you can’t find peace, your body is just so agitated,’ she says.

‘I never drank when I was working, but, on nights off, I’d have a couple of glasses of wine. And Piers and I would have these big nights out at the Groucho Club in Soho, which were wonderful. But I haven’t done one of those since I stopped drinking. Basically, I’m a lot less fun now — as Piers tells me all the time.’

There’s no doubt Susanna loves having a dig at her co-host, who never misses a chance to voice his belligerent opinions on everything from people with mental health issues (‘man-up’), to the Women’s March protests against Donald Trump (‘vacuous’).

‘Piers is very hard — whether it’s about [actor] Daniel Craig [wearing a baby-carrier], or Greggs selling vegan sausage rolls. I find it very hard to be negative about people, because I think to myself, in a lot of cases, there but for the grace of God go I,’ says Susanna.

‘I’m very flawed. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. I’ve had a lot of failures and done things that I look back on all the time and cringe about. So I find it quite hard to say to others: “You shouldn’t have done that.” ’

Her love life is also a prime target for her co-star. Late last year, much to Piers’s excitement, she had a much-publicised relationship with multi-millionaire Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, triggering months of ribbing.

Live in the GMB studios, she sometimes responds to Piers’s rants with a withering eye roll (of which, it must be said, she’s the queen) or a brilliantly sassy put-down. Either way, she can expect grief from viewers, who berate her daily on social media.

‘It’s so bizarre,’ says Susanna, ruefully. ‘I have half the people saying: “You don’t say enough,” and half saying: “How on earth does Susanna get away with interrupting Piers so much? She should just pipe down.” ’

From this Thursday, however, she’ll be free to express herself uninterrupted in her new weekly column for Femail magazine.

‘I hope in my role as a working mum who’s juggling a lot of things, I’ll be able to inspire and challenge readers. Though I have to give credit where credit’s due — it’s working with Piers that’s taught me to be a lot more outspoken.

‘I came to GMB straight from the BBC, where it was very much bred into me that you’re neutral all the time and audiences don’t know what you think. Now, on ITV, I’m encouraged to be far more opinionated. I hope the column will reflect that side of me.’

There¿s no doubt Susanna loves having a dig at her co-host (pictured together), who never misses a chance to voice his belligerent opinions on everything from people with mental health issues (¿man-up¿), to the Women¿s March protests against Donald Trump (¿vacuous¿)

On TV, she certainly appears the picture of manicured self-control. But, Susanna admits today, the squeaky-clean, sober persona isn’t the full story.

Over the past year, she’s fallen off the wagon a few times: once after presenting from the Oscars in LA (‘Well, you couldn’t be at the Oscars and not have a cocktail’); once when a girlfriend came round with a bottle of wine and said: ‘I know you’re not drinking but . . .’; and, most recently, on her annual singleton Ibiza getaway with friends. (Her three sons, Sam, 17, Finn, 15, and Jack, 14, were with their father, her former partner Dominic Cotton, from whom she separated shortly after she tangoed into the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2013.)

What annoyed Susanna — and makes her determined to stay sober now — was a recent photograph of her, eyes closed, leaving the GQ Men of the Year Awards, leading some to conclude that she was off the wagon for good.

‘When you come out of these things, you have 20 photographers flashing cameras and, at some point, you have to close your eyes because you don’t want the flash in your face.

‘The impression they gave was that I’d had a drink, when I hadn’t had a drop. I don’t want people thinking I’m unprofessional.

‘So perhaps it’s best to stop altogether. That way, when a picture such as that comes out, I can say: “I don’t drink at all, ever.” ’

Another reason why she stopped drinking was to lose weight, after a doctor she consulted about her skin breakouts told her they were mainly down to her having a body mass index (BMI) ‘at the high end of acceptable’. Spurred on by this, she’s lost 1½ st in the past year.

At the same time, she decided to put an end to the ‘grazing’ that saw her turn into a ‘carb monster’ in the afternoon — employing the novel strategy of only eating foods that require cutlery. ‘Can you eat biscuits with a knife or fork, or almonds with a spoon? No, you cannot!’ she announces, proudly.

But, after such dedication, she was infuriated to discover adverts on social media using her photograph to promote ‘keto’ diet pills.

There¿s no doubt Susanna (pictured) loves having a dig at her co-host, who never misses a chance to voice his belligerent opinions on everything from people with mental health issues (¿man-up¿), to the Women¿s March protests against Donald Trump (¿vacuous¿)

‘Those scammers had latched on to the fact I’d lost a significant amount of weight. People kept asking me where they could buy these pills, but my weight loss wasn’t through them or a crazy diet. It was all very sensible.’ She certainly isn’t short of self-control: her schedule is Herculean.

Susanna’s day starts at 3.50am, after which she returns home, has lunch at 9.30am, then naps between 10am and noon, before picking up the boys from school and cooking them a hearty dinner of lasagne or roast chicken, with her eating something like salmon (she eats fish, but not meat). At around 8.30pm, it’s lights out for her (the boys sleep at Dominic’s house round the corner so she doesn’t wake them when leaving for work in the morning) to ensure she’s fresh for the upcoming verbal jousting with notoriously mouthy Piers.

But that’s nothing compared with her routine when she was combining gruelling Strictly rehearsals with dawn starts presenting BBC Breakfast as well as a ‘bonkers’ commute between the BBC Manchester studios and her South London home. (After the programme, she’d make the two-hour train journey south to be able to cook her boys’ tea, before returning north again each evening).

Even then, she refused to admit to being shattered, proclaiming that ‘tiredness is a state of mind’.

‘I remember saying that,’ she grins now. ‘But, as I get older, tiredness is definitely less a state of mind and more a physical state. But I do also think you can choose to give in to things. So if I’m tired, but have things to do, rather than thinking: “I can’t carry on,” I think: “I’m exhausted, I’ll go to bed later, but now I’ve got work to do. I’ll just catch up a bit at the weekend.” ’

You’d never guess it from her perky demeanour, but the past few years must have been extremely challenging for Susanna.

It was just after she left the BBC for GMB, lured by the chance to be based in London again, not to mention a reported salary of £1million, that she split with Dominic, now the boss of a company that makes bike helmets out of recycled plastic.

The pair had got together 16 years earlier when both worked at the BBC — he as a sports producer.

Four years later, Sam was born, followed in quick succession by his brothers. ‘I’m not sure we realised how much of a challenge it would be to have three children under four,’ admits Susanna. ‘But now the boys are great friends, so it’s all worked out.’

Their split happened shortly after the whirlwind of Strictly. Despite all the sexy wiggling, she adamantly denies that anything happened between her and her thrice-married professional dance partner, Kevin Clifton, who’s now in a relationship with the partner who took him to victory on last year’s show, Stacey Dooley. During Strictly, Dominic took on most of the domestic burden and reportedly told friends that he felt undervalued — though this gossip was never substantiated.

Five years on, Susanna says the pair ‘have made the relationship work. It may not be the relationship you imagined it would be, but you can make a friendship work, and that’s what we’ve done.’

Perhaps surprisingly, she often turns for support to Piers (pictured together), even though she admits the early days of his GMB tenure (he arrived in 2015 when she¿d just completed her first year) were ¿really difficult¿

Perhaps surprisingly, she often turns for support to Piers (pictured together), even though she admits the early days of his GMB tenure (he arrived in 2015 when she’d just completed her first year) were ‘really difficult’

Poignantly, it’s a lesson she learned from her parents, management consultant Barry and nurse Sue. They split when Susanna (who has two older brothers and grew up in Croydon, Surrey) was nine.

‘I clearly remember the moment my mum told me they were divorcing, and I dissolved into tears as any nine-year-old would. But they managed to build a very strong friendship — they’re still friends — and that has had such a massive impact on me. My parents were at the forefront of my mind during my own split because I can’t bear bitterness or not talking to someone — and if you can be good friends and parent together, it really helps the children.’

Still, however amicable, there’s no doubt the break-up left Susanna with the steely core that holds her in such good stead today.

‘Definitely!’ she cries. ‘Anything that destabilises your world when you’re young is the beginning of understanding: “Oh, right, not everything is going to happen the way I thought it would.” ’

She became even tougher after both parents remarried and divorced again, making her resolve to never marry. ‘I have a very pragmatic, realistic approach to relationships and I just ruled marriage out,’ she explains.

Will that ever change? ‘Never say never. And if I do decide to marry a Hollywood movie star, Mail readers will be the first to know.’

So is she looking for love? Maybe on dating site Tinder? ‘No! I’m happy right now,’ she grins. ‘I focus on work, family and friendships.’

Perhaps surprisingly, she often turns for support to Piers, even though she admits the early days of his GMB tenure (he arrived in 2015 when she’d just completed her first year) were ‘really difficult’.

‘He’s bloody-minded, stubborn, controversial and bullish,’ she says. ‘But, eventually, we found a way to work together, and now he’s a really good friend. I turn to him for advice because he’s always got an interesting perspective.’

But Susanna’s real rocks are her female GMB colleagues, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins. ‘There’s such solidarity there: we often talk about how female colleagues are the closest you come to having a sister.

‘I have a half-sister, but she’s 20 years younger than me, so I always missed that relationship when I was growing up. I’d have loved someone to get ready to go out with and borrow clothes from.

‘But now Kate, Charlotte and I do all that. Well, we don’t do wardrobe raids, but we have the same stylist, and Kate uses my dressing room. Though she puts pictures of it online and it’s so embarrassing — like a wardrobe explosion!’

It’s quite comforting to know that ultra-organised Susanna is a bit untidy. ‘In the same way tiredness is a state of mind, mess is a state of mind,’ she grins. ‘I can put on my “tidy glasses” and think: “Oh my God, there’s piles of stuff everywhere!” But then I take the glasses off and think: “It’s fine. I’m surviving.” Anyway, people don’t come round to see it.’

Petite in a leopard-print shirt-dress from Oasis, Susanna cuts a far more glamorous figure today than she did when she started out on BBC Breakfast in 2003.

Does she have regular Botox or fillers to keep her skin so taut?

‘It’s a very personal decision,’ she fudges. ‘I wouldn’t rule anything out, apart from surgery. I wouldn’t have that.

‘But I’m coming up to 50 [in December 2020], and there seems to be a trend for “tweakments”, so I would never judge anyone else for doing something and I would never rule anything out.’

(By ‘tweakments’, she means non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as Botox, lasers and peels.)

The two things she will confess to are spray tans and dying her hair. ‘I don’t know how grey I am because, as soon as it appears, I get rid of it. I remember early in my career, I had what I thought was quite a nice grey streak, but an editor said: “Don’t let that show.” From that moment, I haven’t.

‘Jennifer Aniston has talked about how she doesn’t want to go grey and I’m with her. I salute women who do it — they look gorgeous — but I choose not to let it show.’

Susanna doesn’t get too worked up about the double standards applied to men and women in TV, which demand that the latter always look immaculate. ‘For me to look my best requires hair and make-up and stylists; for Piers it requires seven minutes in the make-up room,’ she says. ‘But I like looking polished on TV.’

It’s a very Susanna conclusion: upbeat and pragmatic. She has the same attitude towards turning 50.

‘I find the idea very reassuring,’ she says. ‘Piers [who’s 54] scoffs when I say this, but I genuinely think ageing is a blessing.

‘Of course, there are challenges that come with getting older, but consider the alternative! Maybe the night before my 50th I’ll freak out and have an existential crisis.’

Somehow, I very much doubt it.

Joaquin Phoenix has opened about the extreme diet that helped him quickly lose 52 pounds to play the Joker in the titular film based on the DC Comics villain.

The 44-year-old actor shot down rumors that he only ate an apple a day to achieve his astonishing weight loss, telling Access Hollywood that he consumed more food than that  — though not much more.

‘It wasn’t an apple a day. No, you’ve also got lettuce and steamed green beans,’ he said of what he ate in preparation for the role.

His drastic physical transformation was jarring, but he insisted that he lost the weight as safely as possible with the help of a medical professional.

‘It’s something I’ve done before and you work with a doctor and its all regimented and overseen and safe,’ he explained.

Although Joaquin has lost weight for roles before, he admitted that ‘Joker’ director Todd Phillips didn’t make it easy on him.

The ‘Her’ star recalled how the producer always had the one food item he craved on hand, which made his diet a bit more of a struggle.

‘Todd did have these f*****g pretzels that I love. And he’d just have bags of them in his office!’ he said. ‘And that was difficult.’

The film, which hits theaters in October, tells the story of how impoverished stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck transformed into the Joker after being disregarded by society.

‘I had really complicated feelings toward the character when I read the script and started preparing for it. But I like that. I like that it challenged me,’ Joaquin said of the gritty origin story.

‘It’s not an easy movie. And it’s unsettling and uncomfortable at times. But there are other times where I think you feel ecstatic,” he explained.

‘It’s not always enjoyable, but it makes you feel — a really strong, emotional reaction. I think that’s what I look for in a film, certainly as an actor and I think as an audience member as well.’

Joaquin’s character is wearyingly thin in the film, and he admitted that he had reservations about taking on such a drastic weight loss.

‘It’s a horrible way to live,’ he told the New York Times. ‘I think [the Joker] should be kind of heavy. Todd was like, “I think you should do the real thin person.”‘

When the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month, the Oscar-nominated actor said his extreme diet helped him prepare for the role in more ways than one.

‘The first thing for us was the weight loss — I think that’s really what I started with,’ he said of working with the film’s director.

‘And, as it turns out, that then affects your psychology. You start to go mad when you lose that amount of weight in that amount of time.’

You might imagine it was a hefty blow when Prince Harry and his glamorous wife Meghan chose to stop sharing an Instagram account with Prince William and Kate earlier this year — but who’s having the last laugh?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have just reached a landmark 10 million followers on their account @kensingtonroyal.

And the royal couples’ rival accounts, though completely different in style, could hardly be closer in numbers, with @sussexroyal — run by Harry and Meghan — on 9.4 million followers, despite only launching in April this year.

Intriguingly, it is possible the reported rivalry between the brothers is actually helping Prince William.

For analysis reveals that the Cambridges’ account hit a plateau of 7 million followers in January 2019 and languished there, only starting its climb up to its current level of 10 million when the Sussexes struck out on their own.

The royal couples¿ rival accounts, though completely different in style, could hardly be closer in numbers

Other royal Instagrammers, meanwhile, trail far behind.

The Queen has 6.7 million followers and Prince Charles a mere 879,000.

Prince Andrew has just 215,000 followers — all of whom he appeared to ‘mute’ for ten days after the suicide of his friend Jeffrey Epstein, presumably so that no one could leave a comment.

And while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, arguably the most privacy-conscious members of The Firm, follow almost nobody online — including, quite extraordinarily, none of the Royal Family — Sarah, the Duchess of York, takes an altogether more inclusive approach.

She follows absolutely everyone, from David Beckham and actress Susan Sarandon, to Sharon Osbourne and even Ayda Field, the wife of Robbie Williams — plus, of course, her ex and their daughters.

Alas for social-media savvy Fergie, few of the Royals outside of her nearest and dearest seem to follow her in return. So, in the right royal battle for social media supremacy, what does make a winning combination?

Greatest hits: Their most-liked pictures involve the children — and their most popular, with 2.1 million likes, is an image of Prince George and Princess Charlotte in uniform on her first day of school this month.

Two million liked a picture of George’s christening, with 8.3 million views of footage from the day.

The Cambridges’ Christmas card got 1.8 million likes, but the card from the Sussexes, a photograph of Harry and Meghan watching fireworks after their wedding, got only 839,000.

The Cambridges shared son Archie’s official christening picture in July and it received 1.2 million likes.

Another wishing Prince Harry a Happy Birthday pulled in 593,000.

Less popular: Their worst-rated picture was drawings of Paddington Bear back in 2015, which garnered 2,000 likes.

And another thing: In February, they lost 150,000 followers overnight after Instagram limited fake accounts.

Greatest hits: The (rare) personal posts get huge likes — 2.7 million liked the official picture of Archie’s christening and 2.8 million liked a picture taken at his first (and so far only) photocall.

Another big success was a picture posted of Meghan to wish her Happy Birthday, which reeled in 1.2 million likes. Previously unseen pictures released to mark Harry’s birthday earlier this month garnered 1.03 million.

Less popular: Inspirational quotes — from figures including Nelson Mandela — aren’t greeted with huge enthusiasm and tend to get around 300,000 likes.

A post ‘honouring the life and work of photographer Peter Lindbergh’, whom fashion-conscious Meghan chose to take pictures for her Vogue cover, got 311,000 likes.

Incidentally, that ‘break the internet’ Vogue cover only received 431,000 likes. And despite the high-profile launch of her Smart Works capsule wardrobe last week, it got only 371,000 likes.

And another thing: Those cupcakes spelling out messages like: ‘you are enough’ and ‘be kind to yourself’ (posted at the height of the private air travel row) garnered a ho-hum (for them!) 319,000 likes.

Greatest hits: The great-grandchildren are surefire hits, with a picture of Charlotte on her first day at school getting 579,000 likes. But it wasn’t enough to exceed a formal portrait of The Queen and Princess Anne, posted to wish Anne a Happy Birthday, which saw 608,000 likes.

The Queen and Prince Charles laughing together at the Highland games got 147,000 likes.

Less popular: A post promoting a charity furniture and woodworking course received only 34,000 likes.

And another thing: In March, the Queen made her first Instagram post, following a visit to the Science Museum. The image was an archive photograph of a letter written to her great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert, by computer pioneer Charles Babbage. At first, a fashion alliance seems unlikely between an edgy punk clothing brand and the always perfectly tailored Prince Charles. But that’s before you bring in stinging nettles.

Last summer, Vin and Omi, two sustainable fashion pioneers who go by their first names only, met the heir to the throne in West London and they chatted over tea and Victoria sponge.

They were Charles’s guests at the Positive Fashion Initiative, which persuades the notoriously wasteful fashion industry to be greener.

Resembling wool in appearance, the nettle dresses (pictured) have a raw and natural look, and feel, according to Vin, slightly tough and almost furry on the skin

For the meeting, Vin and Omi left their punk outfits at home. ‘We dressed down that day — very smart,’ Vin says.

‘Omi did a curtsy instead of a bow, which, fortunately, the Prince seemed to find amusing.’

Bystanders might have thought it would be tricky to find easy topics of conversation between a Prince famed for his impeccable suits and two designers who have attended a fashion show wearing hoodies emblazoned with the legend ‘Stop F****** The Planet’.

But they quickly found common ground in horticulture and the environment.

The duo mentioned their interest in turning nettles into wearable fabric: an ancient technique that eco-minded fashionistas have recently rediscovered.

Vin admits to being surprised at the royal appointment. 'As far as collaborations go — we're a modern, edgy punk brand while Prince Charles (pictured) has a very traditional style — it shouldn't work. And yet it does, incredibly well'

Charles replied that he had plenty of nettles growing at Highgrove, his 18th-century Gloucestershire estate.

Vin and Omi thought nothing more of it. But then, a few weeks later, Charles wrote to them suggesting they visit and help themselves to his nettles.

‘So we did,’ says Vin, who with Omi has dressed pop star Debbie Harry as well as Michelle Obama and Kate Moss.

This week, the clothes made from the royal nettles were exhibited at The Savoy hotel as part of London Fashion Week.

Resembling wool in appearance, the nettle dresses have a raw and natural look, and feel, according to Vin, slightly tough and almost furry on the skin. (Of course, having been processed, they don’t sting.)

In the audience were several students who had followed the nettles’ journey from the royal organic patch in Gloucestershire to The Savoy, as well as Highgrove’s head gardener, Debs Goodenough.

Vin admits to being surprised at the royal appointment. ‘As far as collaborations go — we’re a modern, edgy punk brand while Prince Charles has a very traditional style — it shouldn’t work. And yet it does, incredibly well.’

So what does it take to turn stinging nettles into glitzy catwalk glamour?

STEP 1: PICKING THE CROP

This June, with the help of 22 students from Oxford Brookes University, Vin and Omi picked about 10,000 nettles that otherwise would have been strimmed off.

Sweltering in the summer heat, they wore protective boiler suits, gloves and goggles to avoid being stung by the plants’ chemical cocktail of formic acid, histamines, acetylcholine and serotonin.

‘Debs Goodenough guided us through the estate’s maze of beautiful gardens,’ says Vin.

The slightly nervous Goodenough had instructed her team to let the nettles grow taller and, crucially, woodier. This is because the fibres needed to make nettle fabric are in the stems rather than the leaves.

This left the plants close to going to seed and spreading across the royal acres. The team took great care not to uproot any plants, as nettles are a vital habitat for wildlife such as Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies.

2: STRIPPING THE LEAVES

Remarkably, during the three seven-hour days of picking, no one got stung. Each evening, the duo took a van full of nettles back to their studio, 30 miles away in Wiltshire.

The nettles were then stripped of their leaves, which were composted, and laid out on the grass outside the designers’ studio to dry in a process called ‘retting’, an old word for ‘rotting’.

This separates the fibre from the pulp, which is the woody part of the plant. The nettles were left for just over a week, so they remained green.

3: PEELING THE STEMS

In early July, the team began pulling the fibre, which they wanted to keep, from the pulp. Having been retted, the fibre could easily be peeled from the stems. For two days, students, family and friends turned up to lend a hand.

Next, the fibre had to be broken down, which was achieved by carding. A wire brush — like those used in dog-grooming — was used to pull repeatedly at the stalk. This made it go fluffy and slightly sticky to the touch.

4: CLEANING UP

In mid-July, the fibre was bleached to a cream colour suitable for the catwalk. Vin and Omi have developed a patented process for this, which bleaches the nettle material while refining it, with no damage to the environment.

5: ADDING THE GLUE

The material’s fluffiness is tricky to use for clothes — as previous generations have found (nettle fibre fabric has been discovered in burial sites in Denmark dating back to the Bronze Age, while German soldiers wore nettle uniforms in World War I).

This means ‘bonding’ had to be added in the form of a glue made from pectin, a natural setting agent which is also used in jam-making. This turned the fluffy fibre into ‘sheets’ of nettle fabric that could be cut and stitched.

6: IT’S A STITCH UP

Stitching by industrial sewing machines added strength to areas, such as the arms, where the bonding might otherwise have come undone.

‘The hours that went into producing this material made it feel as precious to us as gold dust, so we treated it with great respect,’ says Vin. ‘Every mistake hurt like hell, but there weren’t many.’

7: CATWALK COOL

This week, Vin and Omi’s royal project was revealed on the last day of London Fashion Week, with eight pieces made entirely from nettles and another four where nettle fibres had been mixed with alpaca wool.

Now, the Victoria & Albert Museum wants three pieces for its permanent collection, and there are also talks with online retailer Net-a-Porter. ‘It’s an astonishing journey,’ says Vin.

Meghan Markle arrived in a £8,900 ($13,500) Valentino dress alongside Prince Harry for the wedding of fashion designer Misha Nonoo and her oil tycoon fiancé today, joining other star-studded guests including Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and James Corden.

Ms Nonoo, 31, was chauffeured in alongside Eugenie on a golf buggy ahead of the fashionista’s wedding to businessman Michael ‘Mikey’ Hess, 33, in Rome on Friday evening.

A chorus of cheers erupted as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived, Prince Harry wearing black tie and Meghan pairing gold earrings with the black puff-sleeve embroidered tulle gown. The expensive dress, which has sequin embellishments and wraparound fastening, is made in Italy.

Ms Nonoo is a close friend of Prince Harry and Meghan and is rumoured to have set the pair up.

The bride wore a minimalist white dress on arrival, while Eugenie, 29, wore a black evening gown, as other guests in black tie surrounded their vehicle.

Armed guards watched over as a more ornate white gown – believed to be the bride’s dress – was unloaded from the back of an SUV at the Villa Aurelia, an exclusive 17th Century venue in the heart of the city. Ms Nonoo has previously spoken of how she designed her own wedding dress, but said it was a hard thing to do.

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka arrived in a peach gown alongside her husband Jared Kushner, who is currently senior adviser to his father-in-law the President of the United States. While Katy Perry opted for a pink dress as she arrived alongside her fiancé Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom.

This will be the first marriage for Hess, who is from one of America’s wealthiest families, and the second for Nonoo, who was previously wed to Paddle8 founder Alexander Gilkes.

Hess grew up in New York City and went to Harvard College, and Harvard Business School. DailyMail.com revealed the couple’s engagement, obtaining the first photo of Nonoo’s sizable diamond ring, seen on the designer earlier this year in New York.

Who are Misha Nonoo and Michael Hess? The A-list designer and matchmaker believed to have introduced Meghan to Harry and her oil tycoon fiancé who is best friends with Josh Kushner

Born in Bahrain, Misha Nonoo’s father is an Iraqi businessman, her mother is English.

The family moved to the UK when she was 11 and she attended the ACS International school in Cobham (where full boarding and tuition fees are now a stonking £45,560 a year).

She then spent two years in Paris, before taking a job in a small tailoring firm in New York.

She has said that she wanted to be a clothes designer since she was 11 years old. Within ten years, she had achieved that ambition via a fashion collection — initially only of jackets and coats.

A few seasons later, she had been dubbed ‘one to watch’ in New York.

Nonoo’s stellar social profile in New York did her professional success no harm, and her profile was raised when she married Old Etonian Alexander Gilkes.

Misha’s 2012 wedding to Gilkes, the son of a wealthy dermatologist, was a three-day bash in a 16th-century castle in Venice, with a live performance by singer Lana Del Rey.

Given that Meghan said this week that she knew almost nothing about Prince Harry before she met him, it’s interesting to note that Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice attended the Gilkes-Nonoo wedding in 2012.

Not only that, Meghan’s ‘sister’ Misha also went to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton the year before.

This will be the first marriage for Hess and the second for Nonoo, who was previously wed to Paddle8 founder Alexander Gilkes.

Michael Hess is from one of America’s wealthiest families, with grandfather Leon the founder of the multi-billion-dollar Hess Corporation.

His father John is now the CEO of the company while Michael has racked up an impressive C.V of his own, having worked at Goldman Sachs and the Royal Hashemite Court after graduating from Harvard and Harvard Business School.

It was Harvard that he met best friend Josh Kushner.

He has also been friends with model Heidi Klum for several years and, in 2016, was spotted in animated conversation with Princess Beatrice.

Along with his bride-to-be Misha, Michael attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding last year.

As well as having worked in finance, Hess also has a philanthropic side having supported both the Pediatric Heart Center at Boston’s Children’s Hospital and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Princess Beatrice, 31, was spotted wearing a diamond headband decorated with gold and pearl flowers as she mingled with other guests ahead of the wedding, including renowned handbag designer Poppy Jamie, 29.

Hollywood TV personality James Corden waved to the paparazzi as he arrived wearing a pair of shades with his dinner suit.

And Ivanka Trump, sporting her new short hairstyle, stepped out of a blacked out SUV in a gorgeous peach gown alongside her husband Jared Kushner, in Rome this evening for the wedding. The 37-year-old made a stunning arrival at the glamorous ceremony, after flying to Rome on a commercial flight from Washington, D.C. on Thursday night.

Among the last to arrive were Katy Perry, 34, and Orlando Bloom, 42, the pop-star wore large-rimmed white sunglasses with a pink dress, while Bloom wore a midnight blue tuxedo.

Other guests included Karlie Kloss who donned a black thigh-split feathered gown as she joined the star-studded guest list at the wedding. The model added to her look with matching black feathered heels as she made her way into the villa for the ceremony.

Singer and former Beatle Paul McCartney also arrived at the wedding alongside his wife Nancy Shevell. Mr McCartney wore a dinner jacket, while his wife sported a floral dress.

The couple are close friends with Misha and spent the summer of 2018 holidaying around the Mediterranean on record producer David Geffen’s lavish yacht. Misha and Paul were also joined by Karlie Kloss during the getaway, with the model also spotted at Misha’s wedding on Friday.

Ivanka Trump earlier today jetted into Rome with her husband Jared Kushner. Donald Trump’s daughter, 37, and her White House adviser husband, 38, strolled the Eternal City’s narrow streets close to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain ahead of the A-list wedding of the year at sunset tonight.

At one point mother-of-three Ivanka, wearing a colourful summer dress, retro sunglasses and white espadrille wedges kissed her husband on the shoulder as they smiled in the early autumn sunshine.

Mr Hess who is heir to the family’s £1.9billion empire, is best friends with Jared’s brother Josh, 34, who he met at Harvard and is already in Rome with his wife Karlie Kloss, dining with Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom at a rehearsal dinner last night.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also in the Italian capital – but without baby Archie – and the couple have kept a low profile missing out on dinner with A-list stars who partied ahead of the three-day wedding of their matchmaker Misha.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the Italian capital on Thursday to attend the nuptials of designer friend, who is rumoured to have set-up the royals’ first blind date in July 2016.

Ms Nonoo and Mr Hess will walk down the aisle as the sun goes down at Villa Aurelia, a baroque villa and vineyard once owned Pope Paolo III that sits on one of Rome’s seven hills and enjoys extraordinary panoramic views of the city.

The party will continue on Saturday with another expensive event at the celebrated Cinecittà film studios. More than 3,000 movies have been filmed there including 47 Oscar winning ones such as La Dolce Vita and Cleopatra.  It has been so loved by directors including Fellini, Scorcese and Ford Coppola it has earned the nickname ‘Hollywood on the Tiber.’

Harry and Meghan were spotted arriving in Rome without their five-month-old son yesterday – their ninth flight in six weeks including four on board private jets.

A royal source told The Sun: ‘They did fly commercial [to Rome] as Meghan was a bit stung by the criticism over her and Harry’s use of private jets.’

Ahead of appeared high as the stars mingled with wedding guests at the rehearsal dinner the night before the ceremony today.

Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie are also expected to attend the nuptials, along with Harry and Meghan, though they too went unnoticed at the late-night party.

Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom did attend, however, and were pictured engrossed in conversation with their fellow attendees – though the couple did find time to share a kiss.

Another couple who looked delighted to be at the event were Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner, who giggled together as they mingled with guests.

Royal correspondent Emily Andrews tweeted yesterday that Harry and Meghan were ‘seen arriving in Rome’ ahead of the nuptials, but there was no royal presence at the rehearsal dinner.

The Duke and Duchess reportedly travelled by commercial plane having left Archie at home and are enjoying some downtime ahead of their 10-day African royal tour, which kicks off on Monday.

Misha, who recently collaborated with the Duchess of Sussex on her Smart Works charity clothing range, has no shortage of famous friends and the wedding promises to be a glittering affair.

MailOnline contacted Buckingham Palace, with a spokesperson saying that they wouldn’t provide ‘comment on Their Royal Highnesses’s private schedule’.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took COMMERCIAL flight to Rome for wedding of Duchess’s matchmaker friend Misha Nonoo

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are believed to have caught yet another flight as they arrived in Rome today for the wedding of Meghan’s friend Misha Nonoo.

Prince Harry and Meghan are said to have travelled to Italy – on what is their ninth plane journey in just over six weeks – without baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

The pair are thought to be enjoying some downtime at the nuptials at Cinecittà film studios tomorrow before they begin their royal tour to South Africa on Monday.

Harry and Meghan were spotted arriving in Rome today, but Buckingham Palace refused to confirm whether they flew by a commercial or private jet.

However, a source told The Sun: ‘They did fly commercial as Meghan was a bit stung by the criticism over her and Harry’s use of private jets.’

The Sussexes attracted scorn last month for catching four private flights in 11 days to Ibiza and Nice, despite their vociferous campaigning on environmental issues.

Harry and Meghan are unlikely to be the only royals in attendance, with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie among Misha’s close friends. Queen Rania of Jordan is also rumoured to be invited.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is another friend of the bride, while husband Joshua Kushner is a close friend of the groom’s.

News outlets have reported that Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner might also have been invited, although it is unclear whether they are actually friends of the couple.

Perry and Bloom, who recently attended Ellie Goulding’s wedding, are expected to attended, as well as Oprah’s BFF and US TV host Gayle King, who was also invited to the Duchess of Sussex’s baby shower in February.

This will be the first marriage for Hess and the second for Nonoo, who was previously wed to Paddle8 founder Alexander Gilkes.

Designer Misha, who grew up in Bahrain, is believed to have set up the former actress on her first date with the Duke of Sussex in 2016, although this has never been confirmed.

She was one of the attendees at the Royal Wedding in May, and was a guest at the Duchess of Sussex’s baby shower in February.

Nonoo is the daughter of an Iraqi businessman and English mother, and at the age of 11 moved to London with her family.

She is also Jewish, as is Hess, whose grandfather Leon founded the multi-billion-dollar Hess Corporation.

Hess’ father John is now the CEO of the company.

It dos not seem that Hess will be joining the family business any time soon though, having worked at Goldman Sachs and the Royal Hashemite Court after graduating from Harvard and Harvard Business School, where he met best friend Josh Kushner.

He is currently an associate at KKR & Co.

Nonoo and Hess first made their relationship public at the royal wedding last year, and a few months later joined Kushner and his then-fiancé Karlie Kloss for a trip down the Amalfi Coast on David Geffen’s yacht.

Misha boasts a whole host of famous friends alongside Prince Harry and Meghan.

In April of last year, she went to Jordan on holiday with an A-list group of celebrities, including Karlie Kloss and Ellie Goulding.

Misha has also known Prince Harry for years, as her ex-husband Alexander Gilkes, is rumoured to be one of his friends from Eton.

Princess Eugenie, who is also a close friend of Misha’s, worked for Gilkes’ auction house, Paddle8 in New York from September 2013 until 2015.

Princess Eugenie, alongside Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice, were all in attendance for the couple’s wedding in 2012, with the couple going on to have split in 2016.

Princess Beatrice has already arrived in Italy ahead of the event, taking in the Amalfi Coast with boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi earlier this week.

The 31-year-old royal and the millionaire property developer, 35, looked ‘very much in love’ as they spent time together in the exclusive cliff side village of Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, on Sunday.

Misha and her future-husband have planned the wedding in just six months, after Mikey proposed on Valentine’s Day this year.

In a photo posted on social media, he can be seen down on one knee proposing to his future bride on a boat during what appeared to be a romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas.

They’re set to marry at Cinecittà studios, a huge and opulent film set which is the biggest in Europe.

Hollywood blockbusters including Gangs of New York and the Passion of the Christ were filmed there.

Just one of the features of the elaborate event space is an enormous replica of an ancient Roman square.

Misha is also believed to have designed her own wedding dress for the big day, a process that she called ‘stressful’.

‘When you’re doing a couture piece, it’s extremely difficult,’ Misha told DailyMail.com.

‘I think so much about my collection as pieces that are going to work on so many women.

‘But when you think about one piece that’s going to be worn by one person for one night, you have endless options of what you can do and I find that quite hard, having no parameters whatsoever.’

‘It’s still very minimal but more traditional,’ she teased.

‘Hopefully people like it! It’s not just [about] pleasing yourself.

‘When I get dressed every morning, I please myself.

‘I encourage other women to do the same; to look good for themselves so they can go about their daily life.’

Speaking recently, Misha told how her friend hadn’t changed since marrying into the royal family.

‘From when I first met her, to a text that I would send yesterday or today, nothing has ever changed. Nothing,’ she said, in an interview with the New York Times.

‘From, you know, the handwritten thank-you letters that you receive, to never missing a birthday, an occasion, checking in.

‘You may think because someone’s so busy that they’re not there, but that has never changed, how genuinely thoughtful she is.’

Indeed the two are so close that Misha is rumoured to have been in the running for the role of Archie’s godmother.

A visit to Rome would mark the start of a whirlwind two weeks for the Duke of Duchess of Sussex, who are set to jet off on their first official royal tour as a family on September 23.

Harry and Meghan are said to have travelled to Italy – on what is their ninth plane journey in just over six weeks – without baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

The pair are thought to be enjoying some downtime at the nuptials at Cinecittà film studios tomorrow before they begin their royal tour to South Africa on Monday.

Cinecittà studios are the biggest film studios in Europe, with blockbusters such as Gangs of New York and the Passion of Christ filmed there.

The studios’ event space is described online as ‘scenographic’ and ‘mythical’, with a variety of rooms available to host a large event.

The permanent set of Ancient Rome offers an enormous event space, set up like a Roman Trastevere square and a large outdoor terrace with a 160 square meter Winter Garden are among the opulent rooms in the studio.

One of the indoor spaces features a huge swimming pool, which can be covered over to create a private  room with floor-to-ceiling screens.
