Glamorous racegoers upped the fashion stakes as they brought the glitz and glamour to the William Hill St. Leger Festival at Doncaster today.
While it may be Gentlemen’s Day, female revellers were keen to steal the limelight in an array of brightly coloured dresses, extravagant headpiece and mirrored sunglasses as they made the most of the glorious sunshine.
Getting into the spirit of things early, one excited attendee could be seen ditching a glass and downing bubbly straight from the bottle, while others attempted to look steady on their feet as they took to the cobbles in skyscraper heels.
The penultimate day of the iconic festival will see some of the most prestigious racing of the week, with the Doncaster Cup, the oldest race currently run under the Rules of Horse Racing, taking centre-stage.

With a day all about sportsmanship, style, and sophistication, many dapper males dusted off their finest suits and shined their shoes in a bid to claim the Best Dress Male 2019 crown.
As for entertainment, attendees will round off a day of world-class horse racing with a live DJ Set from The Kaiser Chief’s Ricky Wilson.
For those in the Grandstand and Family enclosure, there is no particular attire necessary. However, if for the County Enclosure or Private hospitality, gentlemen must wear a ‘collared shirt’ and ladies must be smartly dressed. No trainers, sports wear or jeans are allowed.
If staying in the Premier Enclosure or and Restaurants, a jacket and tie is required for men, whilst ladies are asked to wear ‘smart’ attire.

The St Leger Stakes takes place between Wednesday 11 and Saturday 14 September and ever since its first run in 1977, has been one of the biggest events in Doncaster’s social calendar.
Saturday will mark the exciting climax as the World’s oldest Classic race features as the centrepiece of the day. In 2018, the festival saw Kew Gardens, trained by Aidan O’Brien, secure the win for the sixth time.
Over time, the four days of racing have expanded into a 10-day festival, celebrating 2,000 years of Doncaster’s history and culture across the town every September.
The festival programme has more than 200 events alongside the race meetings – including the spectacle of Roman soldiers setting up camp at the Minster and marching through town.
Revellers can also attend a free rock concert, see special shows at the town’s theatres and have a ride at the funfairs by the racecourse.
